why mcu tony stark is adhd:

(pls note i have an awful memory so if ive accidentally mixed canon and fanon in here pls tell me)

  • hyperfocuses (example ‘when did you become an expert in thermonuclear(?) physics? last night,’ when he’s working on things like the iron man suit he seems to hyperfocus)
  • when not hyperfocused easily distractable (example the scene in iron man 2 where he keeps getting distracted by peppers desk toy)
  • very impulsive (does this one even need an example)
  • this one i dont recall as much but iirc he is basically always moving?? cant think of an instance where hes still
  • rambles like constantly, often has less filter than he should
  • thought pattern tends to work differently from neurotypical thought patterns - makes connections more easily (when ur brains constantly jumping from topic to topic with extremely vague connections you get really good at seeing them…)
  • when watching iron man both me and my dad (also adhd) will sometimes say “god hes so adhd” we know it very well we can recognize it in others
  • this MIGHT be just something thats in basically every fanfic but not canon, but iirc hes an alcoholic?? adhd people are more susceptible to addiction. this isnt evidence on its own ofc plenty of non adhd ppl are alcoholics but i feel like it strengthens the argument when added to everything else
  • in conclusion mcu tony stark is an adhd man and i WILL fight you abt this (i had someone i know irl say he couldnt be adhd because he successfully ran a big company and was able to focus well enough to invent things and it made me so mad)
  • He got that rsd
  • He has a whole personal assistant to help his executice dysfunction should it interfere with business
  • He has multiple robotic and programmed personal assistants to help his executive dysfunction in his personal life
  • Did i mention the rsd bc…. its Big
  • Has a hard time relating/talking to others and judging what’s too much/not enough at first UNLESS
  • They share a special interest! And then he talks for like 12 hrs straight to them
  • Op already mentioned impulsive but inwant to highlight that time he made new friends and built them floors in his home.
  • Talks… “”“excessively”“” as pointed out in canon
  • Has trouble regulating and expressing emotions
  • Low self esteem

adhd anakin skywalker!

I haven’t seen the prequels in a long time so this won’t be super developed, but I can’t resist. Anyone should feel free to add to this!

ADHD Anakin Skywalker from Star Wars!

  • Alternately considered a ‘gifted child’ and too slow, stupid, or otherwise insufficient, which hits me personally (and I’m sure many other ADHD people!) very close to home.
  • Please someone tell me, is there anything that Anakin thought through the normal amount? Because I remember him swinging wildly between “overthinking” and  “not thinking at all”.
  • Emotional! Regulation!
  • Perhaps the dark side could become a metaphor for RSD but I’ll leave that to people who know Star Wars better than I.
  • Trusts the instructions of people he considers better, smarter, more perceptive than himself, because he does not feel he can trust his own perceptions. Obviously this does not work out for him.
  • Quick-witted and clever in unexpected ways
  • Not very informed about social norms, but people are drawn to him anyway.
